What your terminal emulator really costs
Put in what you pay today for Reflection, PCOMM, BlueZone or another 3270 or 5250 emulator. See the total over one, three or five years next to what WND Terminal would cost for the people who use it.
This calculator adds up what your current terminal emulator licenses will cost over one, three or five years, with your contract’s yearly increase compounding. It then prices the seats your people actually use on WND Terminal, at $99 (Desktop) or $159 (Enterprise) per user per year with a 100-user minimum, and shows the difference.

How we count
- Year one of your current cost uses the price you pay today. The yearly increase starts in year two and compounds.
- WND Terminal is priced at list price for the seats in use, never fewer than 100. The estimate keeps the WND price flat for the whole period. A multi-year agreement locks it.
- WND Terminal has no add-ons and no implementation, migration or training fees, so the WND figure is the whole bill.
- All prices are in US dollars. Volume pricing starts at 5,000 users and isn’t in this estimate.
What Fifth Third found when it counted
Fifth Third Bank licensed 7,400 seats, set by the last true-up plus 10% “to be safe.” After 90 days of usage data, 3,300 of them hadn’t been used. The bank now licenses 4,500 seats, and its emulator bill is 81% lower.

Before your next renewal
- Read the audit clause.Find out how your contract counts seats and when the vendor can audit. Fifth Third’s old contract counted installs, not people, and let the vendor true up whenever it liked.
- Count real use.Pull 90 days of sign-ons by department. Seats nobody used in that time are the first ones to cut.
- Check the notice period.Find out how many days before the renewal date you have to give notice to drop seats or leave.
- Ask for a proof of value early. It’s free, takes 2 to 4 weeks on your own systems and ends with a written readout of your license position. WND runs a limited number each quarter.
Questions
What is a terminal emulator license audit?
It's when the vendor checks how many copies of its emulator you have installed or in use against what you bought. If the count is higher, you're billed for the difference. Fifth Third's old contract counted installs, not people, so the bank kept buying for the worst case.
Why doesn't the calculator fill in Reflection or PCOMM prices?
We don't know what you pay, and we won't guess another vendor's price. Take the yearly amount per seat from your last invoice or renewal quote, including maintenance if it's billed separately.
How does WND Terminal count seats?
Named or concurrent seats, whichever fits. Concurrent use is measured on your own computers, and the license usage dashboard shows who used WND Terminal in the last 30, 60 and 90 days, by person and department. One person using the desktop app and the browser counts as one seat.
How does a true-up work with WND?
If you grew during the year, we true up at renewal at your contracted rate. You won't get a surprise invoice mid-term, and we never send a back-dated bill for past use or reinstatement fees.
Check the numbers on your own systems.
A proof of value is free and takes two to four weeks on your own mainframe. It ends with a written readout that includes your license position.
