# Unisys, HP, NonStop and Airline Terminals

Source: https://wndsoftware.com/docs/other-terminals

### Unisys, HP, Tandem and airline hosts

The terminals InfoConnect, Reflection and PowerTerm users reach these hosts with, in the same app as your 3270, 5250 and UNIX sessions.

Choose Unisys, HP, Tandem and airline hosts on the connect page, then enter the host address. WND Terminal provides T27, UTS 60, HP 700/92, 6530 and ALC profiles with their own keys and status lines. [Check each model and connection](https://wndsoftware.com/supported-systems) or [run five sample host applications](https://wndsoftware.com/downloads/wnd-compatibility-lab.zip).

On a small screen, swipe the table to read all columns.

| Host | Terminal | Connection | Host type name |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Unisys ClearPath MCP (A Series) | T27 (the TD 830 family) | Telnet, port 23 | `t27` |
| Unisys ClearPath OS 2200 | UTS 60 | Telnet, port 23 | `uts` |
| HP 3000 (MPE) | HP 700/92, HP 2392A | Telnet, port 23 | `hp` |
| Tandem / HPE NonStop | 6530 | Telnet, port 23 | `6530` |
| Airline reservation hosts | ALC agent set | MATIP type A (RFC 2351), port 350 | `alc` |

### Try a sample host

[Download the compatibility lab](https://wndsoftware.com/downloads/wnd-compatibility-lab.zip) to run five synthetic host applications on your computer. Its readme gives the exact connection commands, transactions and expected results. Python 3 and WND Terminal are required. These examples give you a working start; during a proof of value, we test your own application workflows and address any compatibility differences.

### Additional model profiles

The current desktop release also has scoped starting profiles for [Wyse WY-50, WY-50+ and WY-60](https://wndsoftware.com/wyse-terminal-emulator), the [IBM 3151 ASCII Display Station](https://wndsoftware.com/ibm-3151-terminal-emulator) and [HP 700/94](https://wndsoftware.com/hp-700-94-terminal-emulator). For older UNIX and PC services, see the [VT52](https://wndsoftware.com/vt-terminal-emulator#vt52), [VT102](https://wndsoftware.com/vt-terminal-emulator#vt102), [partial VT420](https://wndsoftware.com/vt-terminal-emulator#vt420), [partial VT520](https://wndsoftware.com/vt-terminal-emulator#vt520), [BBS ANSI/CP437](https://wndsoftware.com/bbs-ansi-terminal-emulator), [SCO ANSI](https://wndsoftware.com/sco-ansi-terminal-emulator) and [partial AT386](https://wndsoftware.com/at386-terminal-emulator) pages. Each page gives the tested connection, sample transaction and present limits. The [sixteen-host software lab](https://wndsoftware.com/downloads/wnd-model-samples.zip) lets you open a visible screen before connecting to your own hardware.

### Connect

On the connect page, open Unisys, HP, Tandem and airline hosts , pick the host and type its address. The port starts at the usual one. A few settings depend on the terminal.

- Terminal type , for all but ALC. Leave it empty for WND Terminal’s default (`TD830`, `UTS60`, `HP700/92`, `T6530`), or type the one your host expects.
- T27 can send only the fields up to the cursor in forms mode.
- UTS 60 can have XMIT send the open fields, everything, or only the fields you changed.
- HP can start in block mode. The host can switch either way.
- 6530 can send each character as it’s typed. Normally a line is typed on the screen and RETURN sends it, as Guardian and TACL expect.
- ALC takes the agent set’s address from your airline’s network team (five hex bytes such as `00 00 01 0A 41`), and ASCII or EBCDIC characters.

TLS on a secure port works for the Telnet hosts as for any other connection. From the command line, use `--connect "Name=t27:host:23"`, and likewise `uts:`, `hp:`, `6530:` and `alc:`.

### Keys and status

Under the screen, these sessions show the terminal’s own status words, such as T27 `FORM` and `XMIT`, UTS `MSGW`, HP `BLOCK` and 6530 `CONV`, the host’s message line where the terminal has one, and a row of the terminal’s keys to click.

On a small screen, swipe the table to read all columns.

| Terminal | Enter | Function keys | Other keys |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| T27 | XMIT | | SPCFY on the keypad. Clear clears the page or the open fields. |
| UTS 60 | XMIT | F1 to F22 | SOE and MSG WAIT on the keypad |
| HP 700/92 | ENTER in block mode, RETURN in character mode | f1 to f8, labelled as the host defines them | |
| 6530 | RETURN | F1 to F16 and SF1 to SF16 | NEXT PAGE, PREV PAGE, ROLL UP, ROLL DOWN, INS LINE and DEL LINE |
| ALC | Transmit | | SOM and Reenter on the keypad |

In block and forms mode, typing goes only into the open fields and digits-only fields refuse letters. [Macros](https://wndsoftware.com/docs/macros), the [automation API](https://wndsoftware.com/docs/automation-api), Fill from Excel, recordings and Send to help desk read these screens as they read 3270 ones, and macros press these keys by name, such as `press XMIT` or `press SF1`. Password fields are never shown, read or recorded.

### IT settings

List these hosts in the policy’s `Connections` with `HostType` `"T27"`, `"UTS"`, `"HP"`, `"6530"` or `"ALC"`, or `|t27`, `|uts`, `|hp`, `|6530` and `|alc` on a connection line. With `LockHostType` on, the connect page doesn’t offer them and only IT’s own connections of these types open.

### What isn’t covered

- T27 supports configured F/SF key bytes and page memory. Automatic host-programmed key definitions and full forms framing still need a customer-host check.
- UTS over ISO transport (RFC 1006) still needs the host application envelope. Expanded color FCC behavior and auxiliary devices need a customer-host check.
- HP 2392A identity and common status requests are answered. HP 700/94-specific queries, edited and transmit-only fields, and full VPLUS forms remain outside the current subset.
- The 6530 now answers terminal status and keeps independent selected and displayed pages. Block LRC/ACK retry variants still need a customer-host check.
- ALC hosts that need IPARS or padded Baudot coding. ASCII and EBCDIC work.
- Data General and Siemens terminal modes. Scoped Wyse and ANSI profiles are listed separately on the supported-systems page.
- IND$FILE, which is for mainframes only.

### Questions

#### Have these terminals been run against our kind of host?

They were built from the vendors’ public manuals and tested against simulated hosts written from the same manuals. Tell us your host during the proof of value and we’ll confirm it with you on a test account.

#### Can InfoConnect users move to WND Terminal?

Yes, for T27, UTS 60 and ALC sessions as well as 3270 and 5250. Set the connections up in WND Terminal or in IT’s policy, and confirm each host type during the proof of value.

#### Does WND Terminal support Wyse, ANSI or Data General terminals?

Yes for scoped WY-50, WY-50+ and WY-60 Telnet profiles, plus BBS ANSI/CP437 and SCO ANSI. Verify the required screens and keys in a proof of value. Data General remains outside current coverage.

#### Do macros work on these sessions?

Yes. WND Terminal macros, the automation API and Fill from Excel read these screens as they read 3270 ones, and macros press the terminal’s own keys by name.
